Lately, it's been full of twists and turns, or on the contrary, too routine. In both cases, fatigue and stress are building up. A little moment of relaxation at the spa would have done the world of good, but you don't have time to pamper yourself there? Why not do it yourself at home? Here are our tips for a moment of relaxation and unwinding as if you were there!

Get in the mood

To make the most of this homemade spa session, start by choosing a time when you are sure not to be disturbed. Don't choose a day when you will be interrupted by a delivery or a call that you are expecting. Also, remember to put your phone on silent: this little ritual is for you, and only for you!

Your face must be completely free of makeup to better enjoy all these treatments worthy of the best spas. Your skin and all your senses must also be rested to make the most of this moment:

− Opt for subdued lighting using candles or simply reducing the light, to immediately immerse your bathroom in a cocooning atmosphere.
− Candles can be scented to add a little more softness to this cocoon. If you don't have any on hand, you can also diffuse essential oils or perfume. Choose rather soft and floral aromas, like lavender or ylang ylang, ideal for relaxation.

Take a relaxing bath

The best way to relax instantly is none other than a good hot bath . It relaxes muscles and even aches for a moment of deep relaxation. But be careful with the temperature of the water: it should not be too hot so as not to burn your skin.

For an even more virtuous bath, you can add bath bombs , salts, drops of essential oils, oat milk , etc. Choose them according to the benefits you want to bring to your skin.

Exfoliate by massaging

To better clear your mind, why not give yourself a new skin? During or after your bath, apply a gentle scrub to your entire body (avoiding sensitive areas) to remove all dead cells. Pay special attention to your elbows and knees, without forgetting your hands and especially your feet, where calluses appear more easily.

Always prefer gentle and slow movements for even more relaxation, but also to better activate blood circulation. Finish by rinsing thoroughly with clear water. Your skin is now ready to receive the care that you will apply to it to better repair it.

Pampering your facial skin

After applying a cream all over your body, it's time to take care of your face. In addition to the moment of relaxation it brought you, the hot bath and the steam also opened your pores, like in a hammam, to better unclog them and cleanse your skin.

Gently exfoliate

Now it's your face's turn to get a makeover. Choose a gentle facial exfoliator, with finer grains, and adapted to your skin type and its sensitivities. Always massage in circular movements to better smooth the epidermis. The pores being dilated, impurities and dead skin will be more easily eliminated. Finish by rinsing with clear water. The skin is purified , and the complexion is already radiant with beauty!

Repair with a mask

Now that your skin is free of all its impurities, take the opportunity to apply a restorative treatment. To do this, you can opt for one of your favorite balms, always adapted to your skin, a fabric mask, which will target the needs of your skin, or make your own homemade recipe. With clay, vegetable oil, honey or avocado, ... there is no shortage of recipes!

Leave on for around ten minutes on your face and neck, and take the opportunity to let yourself be enveloped in a new cocoon of softness.

Beautify your hands

Your hands have done a great job so far and now deserve some attention. If you exfoliated your hands during your bath, they need even more care.

If you have nail polish, remove it with a cotton pad and nail polish remover, preferably without acetone, which can damage your nails. Cut them into the desired shape and push back your cuticles with a cuticle pusher. To make it easier, you can soak your fingertips in warm water for a few minutes to soften your cuticles (this is not necessarily necessary if you have just gotten out of the bath).

Finish with a treatment of your nails and hands. Apply a cream to nourish your hands while massaging them, insisting on the inside of the wrists and the area between the thumb and index finger. These acupressure points help fight stress and anxiety.

Finally, use an oil to protect your nails and cuticles. Castor oil is great for stimulating nail growth and strengthening them, while avocado oil is a great nourisher!

This ritual can be performed outside of your home spa sessions. On a daily basis, it helps maintain the beauty of your hands and keeps them hydrated, and your nails will also be less brittle.
